Unearthed from the historic vault of the W.D. Hoard & Sons Company, this copy of Legends of the Tanbark Trail: A History of the U.S. National Dairy Cattle Show is more than a book— it’s a time capsule. T his particular edition is one of only four signed in 2009 by every living Klussendorf and MacKenzie Award winner at the time. The signatures read like a who’s who of the tanbark trail’s golden era: Lewis Porter, R. Peter Heffering, Ken Trevena, Dr. Lee Allenstein, George Barlass, Maurice Core, Merton Sowerby, David Younger, Ralph Gushee, Horace Backus, Bertram Stew art, Mike Lancaster, Bob “White” McKown, and Ray Brubacher—many of whom have since passed, making this signed edition irreplaceable.
